What will you do?
- Administer and oversee the delivery of the Root for Trees Program and special events
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with both internal and external partners
- Manage sponsor relationships and identify opportunities for additional sponsorships
- Assist in creating new and innovative ways to engage the community
- Plan, budget, and execute community outreach events
- Assist in the preparation of advertising material for public events and activities
- Oversee and mentor staff in their daily responsibilities
- Coordinate volunteer activities and manage partnership data
- Ensure compliance with the City of Edmonton standards related to the Root for Trees program and Naturalization standards
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Recreation, Project or Program Management, Horticulture, Forestry, or a related degree
- At least three (3) years of professional experience in the field of community recreation and environmental education including supervision of staff
- Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, SLIM GeoMedia, and GIS
Assets:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize volunteer management software to organize and coordinate volunteer activities
- A strong, specialized interest in promoting environmental education, particularly in the areas of urban forestry and horticulture
- Proven experience in planning, organizing, and executing special events with attention to detail and a focus on delivering successful outcomes

- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and corporate sponsors, on high-profile issues and programs

- Software Proficiency: Project Management: Apply project management skills to develop and implement processes that meet objectives

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C
- Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position. Successful candidates must also obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use for City business as required
- Hours of work may vary where evening and weekend work will be required

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
Salary Range: $37.001 - $46.508 (Hourly); $77,258.090 - $97,108.700 (Annually)
